We are delighted to invite you to the 35th Annual General Meeting and Conference of Caribbean Association of Indigenous Banks Inc (CAIB), to be held from Sunday, November 16, 2008 to Thursday, November 20, 2008
Now in its 35th year, CAIB's Conference serves as the premier platform in the Caribbean for discussing the opportunities and challenges facing Caribbean financial institutions, as they carry out their mandate to provide banking and financial services par excellence to the people of the Caribbean and the wider diaspora.
For this year's Conference, the theme "Safeguarding our Future in the Face of Global Economic Challenges" will see us identify and explore opportunities for the region's continued growth and development within the context of the global banking and financial services environment. Sub themes include: "Turbulence of World Financial Markets: Impact on and Opportunities for the Caribbean Financial Sector" and "Building our Capacity to Capitalise on Regional Cross Borders and Global Financial Opportunities."
As is customary, a distinguished panel of speakers has been carefully selected to provide current thought- leadership and solutions on the theme within the context of the rapidly changing global financial markets. The Conference will also play host to several key exhibitors who will be on hand to showcase and offer live demonstrations of current and imminent cutting-edge technological advancements and share business solutions for addressing customer needs.
Please do join us in Barbados at this year's CAIB AGM, Pre-Conference Training & Conference. Come take advantage of this great opportunity to network and meet with your peers, to share experiences, challenges and solutions, and to glean from insightful presentations and workshops facilitated by acclaimed banking and financial services experts.
We look forward to seeing you there!!
Now an annual event, the Pre-Conference Training will be under the theme "Enterprise Risk Management" (ERM) and will endeavour to explore this critical issue and its growing importance to the banking and financial services sector.
The risks affecting enterprises today are vastly different from those which were faced a decade ago. Changes in technology, globalization, the nature of business transactions (such as derivatives and hedging), the recent sub-prime lending meltdown and the rapid evolution of business life cycles have all created tremendous challenges. Industry best practices now call for boards and senior executives to move from an ad hoc approach to risk management to one based upon a more structured, enterprise-wide view of risk.
Delegates will take-away insights to build risk intelligent enterprise, relevant to today's dynamic landscape. The training will start with the basics and explore tried and proven practical solutions that will benefit your organisation whether you are at the development stage or seeking to enhance and add greater value to your already implemented strategy. In this regard, we are indeed pleased to announce our partnership with Professional Risk Managers' International Association (PRMIA).

Barbados provides a myriad of activities and attractions from which we have selected some of the most alluring to serve as the backdrop for the cementing of relationships forged and/or renewed by delegates during the hectic formal sessions. These include a visit to the intriguing Harrison's Cave, one of Barbados' most famous natural attractions, followed by a Catamaran Cruise along the western coastline of the island. Join us in this much-to-be-enjoyed culminating day of networking and relaxation
